January Student Spotlight: Maren Evans
January Student Spotlight: Maren Evans
West Harrison
Thursday, January 16, 2020

Maren Evans is a junior at West Harrison High School; she is 16 years old and has gone to West Harrison since preschool! Her favorite school subject is English and reading. Her least favorite subject is math because it is the subject she struggles with the most.

Maren participates in many extracurriculars including basketball, volleyball, speech, drama, and she is secretary of NHS. She also proudly holds the position of being president of FCCLA and junior class secretary.

For school lunch, her favorite meal is spaghetti, and her least favorite is mandarin chicken. Maren likes her class schedule, her teachers, and seeing her friends when she’s at school. She enjoys learning but not the homework that comes along with it.

Maren plans to go to college and hasn’t decided on her major yet. “I can see myself going into journalism and being a reporter, but I can also see myself going to med school,” Maren said during her interview.

Maren’s biggest role model is her mom; she works really hard but always makes time for her family. A few fun facts about Maren are that purple is her favorite color, and her favorite music is rap. If she could wish for one thing, she would wish for more hours in a day to do stuff!

Some advice from Maren to the underclassmen would be: “Don’t procrastinate--do your homework and get it out of the way!”
