Ms. Clark's May Term class continues their cooking fun this week!! Today, students made cake pops, bacon, vanilla cake and Alfredo.
On Tuesday night the Middle School teachers hosted a game night for middle school students and their families. We're not sure who won, parents or teachers, but we know we all had a good time! Thanks to all who attended; we hope you had as much fun as we did!
Mrs. Palmero's May Term class would like to share some pictures and information about their second day at the Intercultural Senior Center. In the morning, the students were assisting in the different classes that the elderly people are taking. In the afternoon, they were doing different activities, and helping teachers with painting class, bingo time, chair volleyball among others. It was an amazing experience for our students. Thank you everyone for your support.
Ms. Clark's and Mrs. Palmero's May Term classes came together and cooked Spanish foods for breakfast and lunch today. This is what was on the menu.........
Breakfast: Spanish Tortilla (Spanish Omelet), Huevo de Rancheros and Spanish style eggs.
Lunch: Chimichangas and enchiladas.
Sides: Refried beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and queso dip.
Dessert: Churros and sopapillas
The kids had so much fun making, eating and sharing what they made with staff!!
Mr. Nuzum's May Term class have been busy planting corn and beans at the school farm!! Please enjoy some pictures of them working hard!!
Mrs. Palmero's Los aventureros May Term Class visited the Intercultural Senior Center in Omaha on Tuesday May 16th. In the morning, students were putting potatoes in bags so the senior people could take them home later. Then they were assisting some teachers in their classrooms. After lunch, they were doing different activities with the elderly people. Some were making Father’s Day crafts to give to the fathers while others were playing ping pong with people of different cultures. Several of the kids were in classes coloring, doing arts and crafts, helping people of different backgrounds and trying to be better speaking Spanish. My students are amazing, they are doing so much for other people. I am really thankful and proud of them. Please enjoy some pictures of our daily adventure!!

Yesterday, Mrs. Palmero's "Los aventureros" were making piñatas' in class. They designed, built and decorated them. They were really working hard, and enjoying our arts and crafts day. You can admire their masterpieces in these pictures.

Last night West Harrison hosted a carnival for our elementary students and their families. They celebrated the great job the students did meeting their PBIS SOAR expectations. Students received tickets and could play games, win prizes, get popcorn and cotton candy and interact with staff. A great time was had by all!
Mrs. Bieler's May Term class "Students in History Through Film" take advantage of the nice weather and work on their research outside.
Today Mrs. Clark's May Term class had fun making different kinds of bread. Tylar Stirtz, Sophia Blue, and Devyn Harris made Banana Bread. Izzy Ely and Trinity Marr made White Bread. Julyan Tyson and Charlie Rajca made Chocolate Chip Bread. Reagan Mauseth made some Monkey Bread.
Mrs. Palmero's May Term class called "Los Aventureros" took a trip on May 13th & 14th to the Learning Community Center of South Omaha to help the Hispanic Community in their process of learning English. I attached some pictures. The first picture shows the students having a tour in the learning center to know what they do there. After the tour they were assigned 3 different classrooms with students who had different levels of English. Pic # 2 Basic Level. Pic # 3 Intermediate level. Pic #4 Higher Level. They played games, had conversations, learned vocabulary and much more. It was an amazing adventure for them.

SOARing into our last two weeks of school!
The West Harrison Elementary students have done an amazing job knowing and executing the SOAR expectations this school year. We have filled the marble jar multiple times and celebrated with different fun activities throughout the year.
