If you experienced buffering issues while streaming the basketball games there are a few possible causes. According to the NFHS Network website, one issue is with your connection speed with your ISP. NFHS recommends a speed of at least 2 Mbps.
NFHS also recommends you use the Chrome browser. Using a different browser could lead to buffering or freezing issues.
If you still experience buffering and you are using Chrome and above the recommended connection speed you may need to clear your cache and cookies and reload the page.
If you are still experiencing issues you will need to contact NFHS Network support. Their contact page is linked below.

With the new protocols put in place by the governor, the conference has decided to start varsity games at 5:30 pm. This gives more time for the spectator switch between the boys and girls games and to sterilize.

Due to unforeseen situations, Parent's Night ( Thursday's game) will be postponed to a later date. That date has not been confirmed yet.

Tonight the West Harrison Hawkeye basketball team will be taking on Woodbine. If you can't be at the game you can watch the game on NFHS Network.

Good Afternoon West Harrison,
I wanted to give you an update on our current COVID numbers after the Thanksgiving holiday. We currently have no students or staff who have tested positive at this time, meaning all ten day quarantine requirements have expired. 5.9% (22 individuals) are currently quarantining due to exposure, direct contact, or due to waiting for test results. Both numbers are down from last week.
Have a great week!

2020 Winter Sports COVID Guidelines
Spectator Guidelines
Masks are required for all spectators (adults and students) at West Harrison/River Valley Conference extracurricular events.
Spectator limits will be put in place according to the governor’s mandates:
-Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 spectators per athlete suited up:
-Passes will be handed out to the athletes and they give them out to whomever they chose.
-These passes are the responsibility of each individual.
-These passes are needed to get into all conference home and away games.

Good Morning West Harrison!
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday I wanted to send out a message to provide some clarification. We have had some cases of COVID, but the percentage of positive cases is low. We have also had some quarantines related to school but have had no confirmed cases of transmission take place at school. In reality, school seems to be one of the safest places to be in regards to COVID.
As most of you know, the Governor issued a proclamation this week that essentially shut down junior high and youth activities until December 10th and limited attendance at high school activities to two guests per participant. The Governor mentioned re-evaluating things next week.
At West Harrison, our plan continues to be to provide face-to-face instruction to students unless the Governor orders schools to be closed, the IDPH or county health advise that closing schools is necessary, or we have a situation where we do not have enough healthy staff to provide services for students. Barring one of these three things happening, we plan to continue to stay open.
With that said we all know that things can change quickly so we are doing our best to be prepared. You may be hearing that staff are practicing virtual learning with kids at school, talking about scheduling, preparing to send materials home, and discussing how we would provide meals. If you would like to see our proposed virtual learning schedules and information, here is our Virtual Learning page.
All of these things are happening, not because we plan to close the school, but so we are ready in the event closing becomes necessary at some point. We discussed sending materials home over Thanksgiving with our elementary students in order to evaluate any issues that may occur. We decided not to do so.
Please review your plans for your children if the school were moved to 100% virtual instruction. Take some time to review the Virtual School page. Again, this is all being done to be prepared. It is our hope that it will never be necessary to use any it.
I hope this helps clarify our plans for all of you. It continues to be the intent of West Harrison to have face-to-face instruction take place if at all possible.
Thanks and have a great Thanksgiving!
Marty
