Juniors are still working hard to raise money for Prom and Graduation! Currently, we are hosting a shoe drive. All of the shoes we collect will be reused and given to those in need with many of them heading to third-world countries. Shoes can be brought to the school during the day or contact Ms. Haag (thaag@w-harrison.k12.ia.us) to schedule a drop-off. You can help us by donating gently worn, used, and new shoes. We will be collecting shoes until April 15th. Our goal is to collect 100 bags of 25 shoes for a grand total of 2,500 shoes! Help us reach our goal and donate your shoes today!!

Thank you to the Dean J King Family Foundation for their generous donation to update our Hawkeye Wall of Records in the HS Commons. West Harrison has added a new board for our State Place Wrestlers from the past and will update any that make it in the future. We appreciate the King Foundation for all of their support over the years. We also thank Gary Smith and the families that worked on this project to get our information accurate. THANK YOU! Mrs. Bieler's government class took a field trip to the Iowa Capitol on Tuesday. While there they got a tour of the capitol building, got to sit in on some bills being debated and voted on in the Senate, and were able to meet with our House Representative, Matt Windschitl. Students were able to ask Windschitl about what his day to day life as a representative looks like and learn more about legislating. We would like to thank Rep. Windschitl for taking the time out of his busy schedule to meet with us.

Do you remember the SOARing Hawkeyes who filled the entire marble jar for positive behavior? On the 100th day of school, Thursday, February 8th, we surprised the elementary and middle school students with fun and entertaining guest! The Amazing Arthur, who is a magician and comedian, came to West Harrison! The students were amazed at his talent and magical tricks. A few of our students and staff were lucky enough to join him during the performance. What a wonderful show it was for all ages! Keep up the great work Hawkeyes, keep SOARing and showing that positive behavior throughout our school! (Part 1)
