Santa is Coming to Iowa!!!! The Junior Class Prom is hosting breakfast with Santa on Dec. 4th from 9am-12pm. It will be held in the High School Commons. Free will donation and all proceeds will go to the Jr. Class Prom. Open to All Community Members!! The West Harrison Book Fair will also be going on in the Elementary Library from 9am-12pm.

West Harrison's Life Skills class is having a hat and mitten drive. If students bring hats or mittens to the life skills room they will receive a ticket to wear a hat to school on Thursday, December 2nd.

Tonight's scrimmages with Westwood are full games with officials. We are asking for dry goods, canned goods, and toiletries as entry fee for the Matthew House. JV boys play at 4:30, varsity girls at 6:00 and varsity boys at 7:30.

Friday's (Nov. 19) JH boy's basketball game at AHSTW will start at 4:15 pm. The game is played in Avoca.

Reminder tomorrow November 17th is Picture Retake Day!!

Little Hawks Wrestling will start this Thursday (Nov. 18th) at 6:00-7:30 pm. in the wrestling room. As of right now it will be every Thursday at 6:00 pm (not including Thanksgiving).

Iowa Pride Challenge Scrimmage West Harrison Vs. Westwood Community Service Project with the Matthew House Friday, November 19th 4:30 JV Boys 6:00 Varsity Girls 7:30 Varsity Boys PRIDE CHALLENGE: The statewide community service program was launched in 2010 to provide educational experiences for students. The annual program is administered through the IHSAA office and provides support to the Iowa Hall of Pride and other charitable causes. West Harrison has selected the Matthew House (food pantry) as its community project. These are full games with officials and with score and time kept. Entry to the game would be donations of dry goods, canned goods, toiletries, and other items for the Matthew House. There will be a goodwill donation to help pay for the officials. Matthew House Volunteers will be honored at half time.

Prom is hosting a free will garage sale today in the Hawkeye Commons until 2 pm! Stop in and get some early Christmas shopping done!

During the Veteran’s program, Maggie Rains, with the City of Mondamin and the Mondamin Avenue Flags Committee, presented a check to Izzy Foland, president of the West Harrison Chapter of the National Honor Society. The check will be used as part of a grant program in which members of the National Honor Society will select projects around the school to fund. The money is a portion of the subscription fee from those who pay to have a flag flown. Thank you to the City of Mondamin, the Avenue of Flags Committee, and those who subscribe to the Avenue of Flags for providing our NHS students this opportunity.

Veterans Day Program West Harrison High School November 11 9 am Open to the public

We celebrated Mr. Nunez today as he was awarded $1000 from Kinetic Windstream to give back to the school in a way of his choosing. He was chosen out of 360 applicants for the award. He spoke to our 7th-12th graders today about giving back to your community; how helping others helps you too. His award will be used to purchase new Jr. EMS gear for students going on calls. Congratulations, Mr. Nunez, and thank you for your many years of dedication to West Harrison and our school community!

West Harrison is looking for help with their Little Hawks Wrestling Program. The time required is a couple of hours a week and the benefit to the communities is tremendous. Please contact Mr. Nunez at school or email him at anunez@w-harrison.k12.ia.us.

For West Harrison Seniors and Parents: If you have signed up for a FAFSA appointment tomorrow, check your email for necessary information to bring. If you have not signed up yet, it is free and is necessary for colleges and some scholarships in order to give you financial aid assistance. West Harrison will be hosting it's Veterans Day Program on Thursday, November 11 at 9:00 AM in the East Gym. Elementary, Middle School, and High School music groups will be performing and our guest speaker is Coast Guard Commander David Tallon. Students are asked to wear red, white, or blue. The program is open to the public and all active and retired military personnel are invited to attend!
