West Harrison CSD

This is a shoot out to our coaches and athletes from last year's sports season. West Harrison was recognized by the Iowa High School Athletic Associations (boys and girls) as one of 182 schools, which is less than half, who had no student-athletes or coaches ejected during the 2020-2021 school year. Good job West Harrison athletes and coaches.

Calendar Reminder: 1: Next week has full days EXCEPT for Friday (9/3). That is a 2:30 Early out due to the upcoming Labor Day weekend. 2: No School Monday, September 6. 3. We will start up the Wednesday 1:30 Early Outs on September 29.

What a great first day!! A few things we’ve run into: 1: Send a water bottle to school. We will get some ordered for the elementary and wash them at school but until then, send something in so the kids can stay hydrated! 2: Check your email for bus route information! 3: Reminder that we get out at 2:30 ALL WEEK!

The West Harrison TeamMates Program will be hosting a spaghetti dinner during open house from 5:00-7:30 pm in the high school commons. It is free will donation. Open house is Thursday, August 19th.

Volleyball-Scrimmage -Coach Glennie 6:50 Intro. Football-Scrimmage -Coach Stevenson -Coach Evans -Coach Rife -Coach Radloff Masks are strongly recommended. Questions with coaches after each scrimmage. Volleyball, Cross Country and Cheerleading will be in the East Gym and Football on the field. *Free will donation of sports drinks or monetary donation.

From Little Hawks: If you missed sign up for Little Hawks Kid Care, there is still time to sign up. You will need to get the required forms that have to be filled out and retuned to me before your child or children can attend. Email me at trife@w-harrison.k12.ia.us to set up a time to get the forms. It was decided that Pre School age children will not be able to start until the September 7th first day of preschool. Reminder that the first official day of HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL practice started this Monday August 9th from 4-8 and will be all week at the same time. These practices are REQUIRED. If you are not able to attend please contact the coaches. High school volleyball practice is all week 3:30-6:00 PM. Cross country starts on Thursday, Aug. 12th at 9:00 am. Junior high practices start when school starts on Aug. 23rd.

West Harrison is in need of help in the School Food Service Department from 7:15 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. You must be proficient in math. Harrison County Medical Clinics will be receiving doses of the Pfizer vaccine and want to get the word out to all families! This is the vaccine approved for young adults. If you would like to arrange for a COVID vaccination for your 12-18 year old, call an area clinic in Harrison county to get your name on a list or schedule an appointment ASAP. Vaccinations will begin soon! *Vaccination is not a requirement for the school year; this is only a PSA for those interested and looking for information.
